The Real Flex is Wellness Minimalism
There is a certain approach about optimising our wellness that feels a little exhausting for me.
Waking up at 6am - meditation - journaling - high intensity workout - protein breakfast - supplements - water with 3 different hydration sachets inside etc. Don't get me wrong, I am all for optimising. But where there is high anxiety, there is low trust - in the body, and in the self.
Some questions I ask myself when I get caught up in that pattern:
How much of this is truly moving the needle?
Would I still feel vital if all of it disappeared tomorrow?
Do I believe I am a healthy, capable person - or do I only feel that way because of my routine?
Understanding your body will take you so much further than obsessively stacking wellness habits just because the wellness experts are doing it.
Your body doesn't care about your wellness routine. It responds more to your persistent thoughts about who you are. Are you a high vitality being only because of your 15 step morning routine? Or could you access the same vibrancy if dropped in the middle of a countryside without a gadget or sachet insight?
I used to think that the flex was knowing about every new modality and wellness hack. But as you mature out of that false reliance, you learn that your vitality isn't mostly because of your high maintenance regime, it’s simply how deeply you understand yourself and your body, and being able respond to life with clarity. You start to notice that the most grounded people you know are not the most optimised. They are the most settled, and they need less because they trust more.
Wellness minimalism is not about doing nothing. It is about knowing what is truly yours - and releasing what you only picked up because it looked like someone else's answer.
The simpler it gets, the freer you become.
